About Us

The Mary Sula Bishop Center for Translational Neuroscience is a clinical research site that opened right before the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. Despite the difficulties brought on by the pandemic, we were able to continue providing our sponsors with fast, accurate, and actionable data.

MSB Neuroscience strives to provide fast - accurate - actionable clinical data in a synergistic and reciprocal relationship with translational innovators to advance the treatment of psychiatric disorders.

Our site is physically housed within the offices of Dr. Andrew Bishop in a suite dedicated to research and interventional psychiatry. The offices are positioned in the medical office complex at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. This gives the site access to the hospital labs and imaging equipment as well as the easy integration of other clinicians into any given project as needed. The flow from one part of the practice to another is seamless.

Because of Dr. Bishop’s longstanding practice in the community, our offices have a large referral base of primary care and specialist providers that have allowed us to create a database of medically stable potential research participants. Over the years our offices have chosen the path of horizontal over vertical integration that allows us to scale to the level needed for any given project.

MSB Neuroscience has a thorough pre-screening process so we can provide the most accurate data to our sponsors. Dr. Bishop has a license in 35+ US states, and our staff has an abundant skillset that allows us to conduct in-person and decentralized trials. While most of our studies are exploring depressive disorders, we have the resources to conduct any study pertaining to psychiatric or neurological illness.

Because of our independence from the hospital, we are not bound to use the hospital IRB resulting in no institutional charges along with our agreed-upon budgets. We are free to choose to use the hospital IRB if our research partner does not have one, but in the instance where our research partner is already using an external IRB, we do not have to additionally use the local IRB.
